Mission Statement

LA Sky Sports was created in 2023 as a youth basketball program for athletes in our local community. It serves as a positive space for our athletes to learn and develop their skills, knowledge, and experience in the game of basketball. We believe through our basketball development, these athletes will experience character building, teamwork, and leadership opportunities. Our program inspires athletes to persevere through the adversity that comes with competitive team sports in order to grow confidence and learn discipline. LA Sky Sports believes it is imperative that our athletes experience scenarios that challenge these qualities in order to prepare them for success in life outside of basketball.

Meet the LA Sky Staff

Savannah Erskine

Coach Savannah is the Director of LA Sky Sports basketball organization. She grew up in Culver City, Ca and played for Culver City High School. She has been involved with the game of basketball her entire life from playing competitive AAU basketball, a four year varsity high school starter, to a Division I college athlete.

She began coaching in 2014 and has coached several levels, including, college, high school, and youth basketball. With her various levels of experience, her philosophy has expanded to ensure that her athletes are growing into the most competitive versions of themselves on and off the court.

Coach Savannah believes that our athletes must strive to be successful in the classroom, on the court, and in everyday life. She is all about creating a positive culture for female athletes to build confidence, find their voice, and become leaders. Using basketball as her tool, she is able to teach the proper fundamentals to guide her athletes towards reaching these areas of success.

Nathan Oshidari

Coach Nathan Oshidari started playing basketball at 8 years old in his home town of San Jose, California. He played varsity basketball for two years at Lynbrook High School then continued to play recreationally throughout his four years at UCLA and well into his early 40s.

He started coaching middle school and high school boys for the Tiger’s Youth Club in the mid 90’s. Between the early 2000’s and becoming a girl dad in 2008, Nathan invested a considerable amount of time and energy studying as well as teaching traditional Japanese martial arts (3 Dan in Daito Ryu Aiki Jujitsu & 12 years of Ono Ha Otto Ryu Kenjutsu) which he still continues to practice 25 years later.

Nathan started coaching 5 and 6 year old girls once his own daughters reached that age starting in 2014, and have grown along with both of those teams over the last 10 years. The martial arts background definitely influences coach Nate’s coaching philosophy and methodologies. (As does being a girl dad).

Coach K

I’m Coach K, originally from Federal Way, WA—a former player turned coach with over 8 years of experience at the club, high school, and community college levels. With a degree in Kinesiology and a passion for player development, I’ve worked with athletes from beginners to elite, learning from top trainers like NBA coach Phil Handy. My goal is simple: to help players grow in skill, confidence, and character—on and off the court.

Through focused player development, mentorship, and proven training methods, I strive to build not only skills and confidence but also character that carries far beyond basketball.

Coach Chris

Coach Chris grew up in Santa Monica where he first started playing basketball at 6 years old at the Boys and Girls Club. He played at Santa Monica High School where he and his team earned a Division 1 CIF Championship. Coach Chris went on to play 2 years at College of the Sequoias before returning home to start his coaching career.

Coach Chris has been coaching youth basketball for 9 years. He has coached co-ed basketball from all ages 5 to 17 year olds. One thing Coach Chris emphasizes with his athletes is that it doesn’t matter where your skill set is when you start off, it’s all about how much work you put in get better. That’s why Coach Chris believes in teaching and pushing players to reach their potential through a strong work ethic. One of his favorite quotes is, “Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard.” This is why Coach Chris strives to push his players to be the best versions of themselves on the court, but even more importantly off the court to build strong life habits to be successful. "You can’t be comfortable with where you’re at in your journey to be great."

Coach Jay

Coach Jay, 31, is a Culver City High School alum and Los Angeles native with a Master’s in Education. His passion is bigger than basketball. He’s committed to helping young students and athletes discover and maintain their confidence, leadership, and belief in their own abilities. On the court, he teaches the game the right way; off the court, he pushes his players to grow into leaders who carry those lessons through every part of life.

Coach T

Coach T grew up in New Jersey as a two sport athlete playing basketball and running track. Her natural talent and passion for track earned her a scholarship to D1 Monmouth University, where she competed all four years and broke numerous records.

Coach T continued to feed her love for basketball by playing throughout college and eventually joining multiple leagues in Los Angeles. She is excited to help young athletes on their journeys learn that it's the little things that make you better. As a forever student of the game, Coach T is committed to putting in the work to be better and hopes to help instill that mentality in her athletes.
